How to play
Goal
Each square holds a skyscraper. Fill in every building's height so the clues around the edge are right.
The rules
- On a 4×4 grid, heights are 1 to 4 (1 to 5 on 5×5). Each row and each column has every height exactly once.
- A clue on the edge says how many buildings you can see from there, looking along that row or column. Taller buildings hide shorter ones behind them.
- For example, the row 2 1 4 3 seen from the left shows two buildings: the 2, then the 4. The 1 hides behind the 2 and the 3 behind the 4.
How it works
- Tap a square, then a height. ⌫ clears it. A shaded bar shows each building's height.
- A clue fades once its line is full and correct, and turns red if the line is full but wrong.
- Every city has exactly one solution.
Tips
- A clue of 1 means the tallest building is right next to it.
- A clue equal to the grid size (4 on 4×4) means the heights rise 1, 2, 3, 4 in order from that side.
- A high clue means short buildings near that edge; a low clue means a tall one close by.
The history of Skyscrapers
Skyscrapers puzzles appeared in puzzle magazines in the 1990s and are now played worldwide, in newspapers and in puzzle championships.
