How to play
Goal
Repeat a growing pattern of lights and tones for as long as you can.
How it works
- Press Start. One pad lights up with a soft tone.
- Tap the same pad to repeat it.
- Each round, the game plays the whole pattern again with one new step added at the end. Repeat all of it, in order.
- One wrong tap ends the game. Your score is the longest pattern you repeated correctly.
Calm plays the pattern slowly. Brisk is faster. On a keyboard, keys 1 to 4 (or Q, W, A, S) press the pads.
Tips
- Listen as well as watch. Each pad has its own note, and the pattern becomes a little melody.
- Chunk the pattern into groups of three or four, like a phone number.
- Name the pads (for example “brown, peach, blue”) and say the pattern quietly to yourself.
The history of Recall
The electronic game Simon, created by Ralph Baer and Howard Morrison, launched in New York in 1978. It was inspired by an Atari arcade game called Touch Me, and the name comes from the children's game “Simon says”. Its four colours and tones made it one of the best-known toys of its time.
