How to play
Goal
Turn the whole board into a single colour, in as few moves as you can.
How it works
- Your area starts at the top-left corner (outlined in white).
- Tap a colour below. Your whole area changes to that colour, and every touching square of that colour joins your area.
- Keep going until the board is one colour.
- The second number next to Moves is par: a good score worked out by the game. Beat it or match it.
- Small uses 4 colours, Medium 5 and Large 6.
Tips
- Don't just grab the biggest patch nearby. Aim for colours that open a path towards the far side of the board.
- Clear colours that are almost gone early, so they can't linger in corners and cost extra moves at the end.
- Try to spread across the middle first. The corners will follow.
The history of Colour Flood
Flood-fill games became popular as quick computer and phone games in the 2000s. They are based on the “flood fill”, the paint-bucket tool used in drawing programs since the 1970s.
